Town charity kit puts rest in shade
Huddersfield Town left their famous blue and white striped home kit in the store room for their game against Southend United at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday 16th January 2010.
It was the first game in the Club’s 98 year League history where they did not wear blue for a home game.
Lee Clark’s team ran out in a bright red and yellow strip which was specially manufactured by Mitre for the Club with the aim of raising money for the Keep It Up campaign. The red in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance logo and the yellow mirrors the colour of the Air Ambulance itself.
So far over £70,000 has been raised and the ‘charity shirt’ is the latest event in the fundraising calendar for the campaign.
“We produced 500 shirts which went on sale immediately after the game- all of which have now gone! We have a limited number of shirts signed by the whole squad which will be auctioned off so keep your eyes out!” said Commercial Director, Sean Jarvis, whose brainchild it is.
“None of our supporters knew that the team would be running out in this kit, all they knew is that they would need their sunglasses! It’s certainly bright and it’s a ‘love it or hate it’ colour scheme, but it’s all for a good cause and they have certainly proved popular.”
